With its sensual array of flavors and spices, Thai makes a hot party food, and is the perfect choice for hosting an Oscar party for your friends. So why not celebrate the stars in your life with this Oscar party planner, complete with menu options paired with wines, and tips to make the atmosphere star quality.

Oscar Night Menu

1. APPETIZERS:

Pair these zesty finger foods with a Riesling, Zinfandel, sparkling wine, or champagne.

Prep.Tip: The coconut shrimp batter as well as the potsticker filling can be made ahead of time and kept covered in the refrigerator. Then, a half-hour or so before your party, simply fry them up. Keep warm in the oven until your guests arrive.

2.SALAD:

Make your Oscar party Hollywood elegant by serving this beautiful Thai Rose Petal Salad, OR Vegetarian Rose Petal Salad The gorgeous presentation as well as the incredible hit of flavors will wake up your guests' senses, preparing them for the main course. Pair this salad with a Shiraz/Syrah or an extra dry sparkling wine.

Salad Prep. Tip: You can prepare the salad up to a day ahead of time, keeping the rose petals, star fruit, and dressing separate until your guests arrive. Then simply toss altogether and serve!

3. MAIN COURSE:

Both of these skewer dishes can be made indoors in your oven, or outdoors on the barbecue (see individual recipes for all instructions). Serve these star-worthy dishes with plenty of Thai jasmine-scented rice on the side, and a bottle of your favorite Chardonnay.

  • For vegetarians, serve Heavenly Thai Pineapple Fried Rice Served in a Pineapple. Pair this supreme party dish with a Cabernet or Pinot Grigio.

Prep. Tips For the Skewers: Both the satay and the shrimp/pinapple/tomato can be made the day before and left to marinade overnight in your refrigerator. Skewer them just before guests arrive and place in the refrigerator until you're ready to cook them (which only takes a few minutes).

Prep. Tips For the Pineapple Fried Rice: Carve the pineapple (if using) a day or two ahead of time, and keep covered in the refrigerator until needed. Also prepare other ingredients for the fried rice and keep refrigerated until guests arrive. Note: This dish fries up in just minutes, so you can either make it when guests arrive, or an hour ahead of time and keep it covered in a warm oven. Then just ladle into the carved pineapple (if using) and serve!

    4. DESSERT:

    • For a truly star-studded dessert, serve this elegant Thai Star Fruit Dessert, OR
    • Hot Thai Fried Banana Dessert. This is truly a treat your "stars" will not soon forget. Aside from being out-of-this-world delicious, this dessert is also fun to make. Serve this delectable dessert with White Zinfandel to finish off your star-quality evening!
